The Hotel Escuela Cerrito won the international competition: “Sustainable Hotels – The Greenest Hotel in 2024”, in the category “Actions that create history”. This occurred after participating in an online vote and making a presentation before a select jury, competing with other hotels of Chile, Argentina and Uruguay, at an event held at La Rural, Buenos Aires, Argentina.
The Hotel Cerrito qualified to become the greenest hotel in 2024, mainly due to its impact on the lives of students who work as interns at the hotel, creating stories of success, progress and fulfillment.

The Hotel Cerrito is part of the Cerrito Self-Sustaining Agricultural School of the Fundación Paraguaya, whose educational model is based on “Learning by doing, selling and earning money”, which has received international recognition as one of the most impactful and scalable educational innovations of Latin America.
The Hotel Escuela Cerrito is part of one of the operational units of this educational model, where students learn about hospitality and tourism, attend the guests and generate resources to help sustain the Agricultural School.
Upon completion of their studies, the young students, most of whom come from vulnerable rural environments, receive the degree of Technical Baccalaureate in Agriculture and Technical Baccalaureate in Hospitality & Tourism, with the purpose of transforming them into rural entrepreneurs who generate resources and money in rural areas.
