Graduation of the 2024 Class of the Escuela Agrícola Cerrito: 40 New Rural Entrepreneurs

Benjamín Aceval celebrated the graduation of a new generation of rural youth

With profound emotion, the educational community, institutional authorities, representatives of the Fundación Paraguaya, and special guests gathered in Benjamín Aceval for the graduation ceremony of the 2024 Class of the Escuela Agrícola Cerrito. In an event filled with symbolism, 40 young rural entrepreneurs received their diplomas, marking the beginning of a new chapter in their lives.

The top graduate of the class, Gabriela Medina, delivered an emotional speech that resonated with the attendees. “Dear families, today we begin a journey filled with emotions. We take our first steps toward school with our families accompanying us on this journey. During my time here, I have had the opportunity to learn and grow significantly through the combination of theory and practice. Thanks to this experience, we have learned the importance of responsibility, perseverance, and honesty—fundamental values for our personal and professional growth,” she remarked.

Martín Burt, Executive Director of the Paraguayan Foundation, congratulated the students and emphasized the societal impact of their efforts. “We often fail to realize the example you are setting for Paraguay and the world. These young people, instead of attending 180 school days as mandated by the Ministry of Education and Sciences, study 210 to 220 days, proving that it is possible. These students are not only earning their Technical High School Diploma in Agriculture but also an additional diploma in Rural Hospitality and Tourism,” he noted.

Burt also highlighted the innovative approach of Cerrito in combining academic preparation with practical entrepreneurship skills. “Each graduate presented a business plan as their thesis—a critical tool for understanding how, when, and how much income can be generated from a family farm. Indeed, wealth lies in the countryside when equipped with skilled human resources, and today, these graduates are ready to progress and contribute to a greater Paraguay,” he affirmed.

Amalio Enciso, Director of the Cerrito Agricultural School, also expressed gratitude and encouragement to those present. “We congratulate the parents who have supported the students and formed part of this educational community. Believe me, as Cerrito graduates, you will realize that you have learned and possess all the tools that will be useful in life. For our part, we will continue our constant pursuit of excellence as an institution to provide our students with greater well-being and the best preparation for their future,” he emphasized.

The ceremony concluded in a festive atmosphere, where families and friends came together to celebrate the hard work and achievements of these new rural entrepreneurs. The 2024 Class of the Cerrito Agricultural School leaves a legacy of hope, demonstrating that with education and dedication, lives and communities can be transformed. The graduates now face the challenge of applying their knowledge and values to contribute to the sustainable development of the Paraguayan countryside.
