Fundación Paraguaya Receives Prestigious International Award for Its Contribution to Women’s Economic Empowerment

Fundación Paraguaya has been honored with the 2025 TIAW World of Difference Award, a global recognition granted by The International Alliance for Women (TIAW) to leaders and institutions that promote women’s economic empowerment in their communities and around the world. The award was accepted by Martín Burt, executive director and founder of Fundación Paraguaya, during a ceremony held in Athens, Greece.

The World of Difference Award highlights individuals and organizations whose actions have led to concrete progress in reducing the economic inequality gaps that affect women. In the Non-Profit/NGO category, Burt was nominated by Emma Delvalle and selected from submissions from every continent. The organization emphasized Fundación Paraguaya’s longstanding work in creating economic opportunities for women, especially in sectors that have historically been undervalued or overlooked.

According to TIAW, globally, 2.4 billion women of working age still lack equal economic opportunities and, on average, earn only 51 cents for every dollar earned by a man. In this context, Fundación Paraguaya was recognized for developing innovative initiatives that enable women to become entrepreneurs, generate sustainable income, and improve their quality of life.

During the event, TIAW highlighted that “when women are financially empowered, everyone benefits,” celebrating the work of leaders like Burt, whose efforts contribute to structural change and the advancement of a more just and equitable society.

The recognition also includes the promotion of the achievement across TIAW’s digital platforms and a one-year honorary membership for all award recipients.

Fundación Paraguaya celebrates this award as motivation to continue strengthening programs that promote women’s economic autonomy and leadership in Paraguay and around the world.
