Instituto Belén: technical and entrepreneurial education to transform rural communities

The official opening of Instituto Belén took place in the town of Belén, Concepción Department, on the grounds of the Self-Sustainable Agricultural School of Belén. The event was attended by representatives of Fundación Paraguaya, partner organizations, the educational community, and leaders from the rural sector.

This new educational center is a joint initiative between Fundación Paraguaya and the José de la Sobera Foundation, with the goal of providing high-quality technical and entrepreneurial training to rural youth and adults.

“Instituto Belén was born with a clear vision: to promote rural development, create real opportunities for vulnerable young people in rural areas, and support the growth of farming families. We want each graduate to leave not only with a skill, but also with the tools to become entrepreneurs, generate income, and transform their communities,” said Martín Burt, Executive Director of Fundación Paraguaya.

Under the motto “Learn, grow, and succeed with us,” Instituto Belén offers educational programs focused on immediate employability and entrepreneurship development.

  • Basic Residential Electricity
  • Mobile Phone and Device Repair
  • Logistics and Distribution Assistant
  • Basic Office Computing (Microsoft Office)
  • Home Air Conditioner Repair Technician
  • Intro to Sales: Selling, Negotiation, and Promotion
  • Restaurant Service and Customer Care

What sets the Belén Entrepreneurial Center apart from traditional training programs is its holistic approach. It combines technical education with entrepreneurial, commercial, technological, and social-emotional skills. In addition, it offers post-graduation support, access to microcredit for business startups, and a job placement service to facilitate entry into the workforce.

The institute also builds partnerships with businesses and development organizations to design training programs tailored to local needs—strengthening the local productive ecosystem.
