Martín Burt relaunches his book at Worcester Polytechnic Institute

The Executive Director of Fundación Paraguaya, Dr. Martín Burt, presented the updated edition of his book Who Owns Poverty? at Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) in Worcester, Massachusetts, USA. The book, published in collaboration with Unbound Authors, continues to challenge traditional conceptions of poverty and promote an innovative approach to its eradication. The event, part of WPI’s Authors Unbound series, featured WPI Press Editor-in-Chief Rob Krueger.

The presentation took place at the George C. Gordon Library. During the event, Dr. Burt emphasized the importance of the Poverty Stoplight, a methodology that allows families to assess their own situation and take control of their path to prosperity. According to Burt, this approach empowers individuals by making them the protagonists of their own development rather than relying on externally imposed solutions.

Who Owns Poverty? poses a fundamental question: Who really owns poverty? From this inquiry, Dr. Burt develops a groundbreaking perspective on the issue, challenging traditional aid models and proposing strategies that have been implemented in a dozen countries across five continents. His methodology has been adopted by governments, NGOs, and international organizations seeking to eradicate poverty effectively and sustainably.

The event provided an opportunity to exchange ideas on global challenges in the fight against poverty and to gain firsthand insight into the impact of Dr. Burt’s approach. The discussion, which included a Q&A session, allowed attendees to delve deeper into the concepts presented in the book.

With this new edition, Who Owns Poverty? reaffirms its role as a key work in the debate on poverty and its eradication, inspiring leaders, academics, and citizens committed to social transformation.
