Verdeate: More Than 48,000 Families Improved Their Quality of Life in Paraguay

In 2025, a total of 48,387 indicators were “turned green” in Paraguay as part of the Verdeate campaign, led by Fundación Paraguaya.

This result means that nearly 48,500 families improved key aspects of their lives, advancing in their journey out of multidimensional poverty through an innovative and participatory tool: the Poverty Stoplight methodology.

How Does the Poverty Stoplight Work?

The Poverty Stoplight is a methodology that enables each family to self-assess its situation across various well-being indicators, using a simple and visual three-color system:

🔴 Red: extreme poverty or high vulnerability
🟡 Yellow: intermediate condition, showing progress but still facing challenges
🟢 Green: condition overcome, indicator achieved

Unlike traditional approaches, the Poverty Stoplight does not measure poverty based solely on income. Instead, it addresses poverty from a multidimensional perspective, including aspects such as education, housing, health, family organization, motivation, access to services, and even recreation.

This approach recognizes that being free from poverty also involves emotional well-being, motivation, and overall quality of life — including the opportunity to dedicate time to leisure and personal development.

The Three Most “Greened” Indicators in 2025

This year, the indicators showing the greatest progress were:

1. Access to Credit – 19,457 indicators turned green

This enables families to access formal financing to start businesses, invest in productive improvements, or address urgent needs without relying on high-cost informal lending mechanisms. This progress strengthens economic autonomy and planning capacity.

2. Awareness of Their Needs – 12,381 indicators turned green

This indicator is key because it promotes self-awareness and informed decision-making. When a family clearly identifies its priorities, it can set concrete goals and design a sustainable improvement plan.

3. Access to Recreation – 3,262 indicators turned green

Well-being is not limited to material conditions. Having access to spaces and time for recreation strengthens mental health, family cohesion, and motivation. This indicator reflects a comprehensive understanding of what it means to live with dignity.

With these results, Verdeate reaffirms its continued relevance in 2026 and its commitment to thousands of Paraguayan families who, step by step, are transforming their realities through a tool that places the power of change in their own hands.
