Gobernador Virasoro, Corrientes. Dr. Martín Burt, Founder and Executive Director of Fundación Paraguaya, delivered the lecture «The Poverty Stoplight» at the Casa de la Historia y la Cultura del Bicentenario in Gobernador Virasoro, where he shared with government officials, business leaders, civil society organizations, and community members an innovative methodology that is transforming the way poverty is measured and overcome in more than 60 countries.
During the event, Burt presented the Poverty Stoplight, a tool that enables families to assess their own situation through a visual dashboard of multidimensional indicators. The methodology helps them identify their strengths, prioritize their needs, and develop a personalized action plan to achieve a better quality of life.
«Everywhere I go, I find the same truth: families do not need others to tell them what they lack. They need tools that empower them to identify their own priorities and build their own path toward a better life,» Burt said during his presentation.
The creator of the methodology emphasized that its approach places people at the center of the solution, promoting dignity, self-reliance, and decision-making based on information generated by the families themselves.
«The Poverty Stoplight demonstrates that when we measure poverty through a multidimensional lens and build solutions based on people’s strengths, real change is possible,» he said.
Developed by Fundación Paraguaya, the methodology is currently implemented in more than 60 countries through governments, nonprofit organizations, businesses, and international agencies, making it a global benchmark for social innovation in poverty reduction.
At the conclusion of the conference, Burt thanked participants for their attendance and highlighted the strong interest shown by the various sectors of Gobernador Virasoro in advancing initiatives that strengthen community development.
«Argentina has tremendous potential to lead this kind of social innovation. Thank you all for your thoughtful dialogue, insightful questions, and commitment to building partnerships that transform lives,» Burt concluded.
